Italian regions expand digital health bookings and community care hubs

In Friuli Venezia Giulia, a regional digital health portal now lets patients book appointments, cancel visits, and view test results online, cutting phone calls and travel time.

Lombardy's regional government approved an updated 2026 health programme that targets shorter waiting lists, stronger territorial services, telemedicine, mental‑health and palliative‑care initiatives, and faster prescription processing. Welfare assessor Guido Bertolaso said the measures will make the system “more efficient, modern and close to citizens’ needs.”

From 1 August, Asst Lariana will use a single regional CUP, offering appointment booking for private‑practice specialists via a toll‑free number (800 890 890), the electronic health record, email and physical desks.

In the Veneto town of Cavallino‑Treporti, four general practitioners (Edoardo De Palo, Lucrezia Ribaudo, Antonio Muscarà, Asadalah Habibi) began working in a new Casa di Comunità, centralising primary care, nursing and specialist services. Director Carlo Bramezza highlighted the hub as a “single point of reference” that simplifies access for residents.
