Italian regions request emergency aid for agriculture as wild boar damage and storms hit farms

Regional councilor Fernando Errico of Campania highlighted that the Sannio area of Benevento province counts "14,000 enterprises" in the agricultural supply chain. He warned that an uncontrolled wild‑boar population is devastating crops and threatening safety, and called for immediate legislative action to support farmers.

In the southern city of Bisceglie, mayor Angelantonio Angarano asked the Apulia regional government to declare a natural‑disaster state after severe hailstorms damaged crops and jeopardised the livelihood of local agricultural firms. He stressed that climate change is increasing extreme weather events and urged technical inspections and financial support for the affected farms.
