Italian sailing clubs launch inclusive courses for disadvantaged youth
The Circolo Nautico “Il Corallo” in Sciacca hosted the Casa di Cura Santa Maria del Giglio for a day focused on inclusion and psychosocial rehabilitation. The event was part of the “Comunità Democratica” programme, which promotes active participation, shared responsibility and dignity for patients recovering mental health challenges. President Franco Galluzzo highlighted the club’s role in fostering community solidarity through the maritime setting.
In Codigoro, the municipality, together with the Circolo Nautico Volano and the non‑profit Associazione “Il Mantello di Pomposa”, presented the new edition of the “Corso di Vela Inclusivo”. The week‑long sailing course, set to start in September, will be offered free of charge to about ten minors from socio‑economically fragile backgrounds. Mayor Sabina Alice Zanardi and Vice‑Mayor Francesco Fabbri stressed the project’s aim to combine sport, environmental education and social integration, while the club’s president Stefano Totti mentioned opportunities for participants to become sailing instructors in the future.
