Italian sailing clubs launch Vela Day program and Cagliari therapy boat fundraiser

The Italian Sailing Federation’s Vela Day 2026 campaign set a May 13 deadline for sailing clubs to join a series of free sailing days scheduled from May 29 to June 2. Over 70 clubs in the I‑Zona of Liguria confirmed participation, offering practical sessions for people aged six and up to experience sailing.

Separately, the Lions Club of Cagliari organized a charity gala on May 15 to raise funds for a two‑seat sailboat intended for velotherapy. The event combined live music, fashion shows and performances, with proceeds earmarked for a boat that will be loaned free of charge to the local section of the Italian Naval League for use by seniors and people with disabilities.
