Italian school sailing programmes launch in Cerveteri and Galatina

The Associazione Nautica Campo di Mare in Cerveteri expanded its “Scuole di Sport” to include chess and continued its long‑standing “Vela a scuola” project for the 2025‑26 school year. The sailing programme, coordinated with the Italian Sailing Federation and the Ministry of Education, provided 40 instructional hours to five classes, combining classroom theory with on‑water sessions at the association’s waterfront facilities.

In Galatina, the “Vela a scuola” initiative was carried out by the Circolo Nautico “La Lampara” for the Polo 3 fourth‑grade students. The programme featured four theoretical modules covering boat components, wind, and knot‑tying, followed by practical outings that let pupils sail Optimist dinghies, try stand‑up paddleboarding, and work on a motor‑boat. The experience concluded with a visit to the Salento aquarium, reinforcing maritime education.

Both projects aim to teach primary‑school children basic sailing skills, marine awareness, and teamwork, aligning with national efforts to promote sports and environmental education in schools.
