Italian schools launch new academic year with community events

Schools in Italy have commenced the 2026/2027 academic year with various community-focused welcome activities.

In Casagiove, the Moro-Pascoli Institute held a ceremony for students ranging from kindergarten to middle school. School Director Angela Maccauro emphasized the importance of cooperation between schools, families, and local institutions for student growth. Mayor Francesco Moscatiello attended the event, highlighting the administration's commitment to youth welfare and symbolically presenting an olive tree to the school.

In Catania, the Boggio Lera state high school organized a two-day welcome event for new students at the Le Capannine sports village. Instead of traditional classroom settings, students participated in beach volleyball, beach soccer, beach handball, and team-building exercises. School Director Valeria Pappalardo noted that sport serves as an educational tool to foster collaboration, respect, and responsibility among students.
