Italian seniors advised moderate coffee; 96% of Italians drink it daily
Health experts note that people over 60 can generally continue drinking coffee in moderation. Caffeine causes a brief rise in blood pressure, but regular consumers develop tolerance and do not suffer permanent cardiovascular damage. Those with well‑controlled hypertension may safely enjoy two to three cups a day, provided they watch for reflux or stomach‑burn symptoms, which can be aggravated by coffee.
A recent AstraRicerche survey for La Pavoni shows that 95.6% of Italians consume coffee daily, with nearly 60% drinking two or three cups. The study reveals strong interest in espresso quality: 71.4% of respondents pay close attention to preparation at home, and many identify as home‑barista enthusiasts. The survey also presented a ten‑point “perfect espresso” guide covering dose, grind, water quality, machine maintenance and cleaning.
