Federica Brignone uncertain about 2026‑27 season after lingering injury

Italian alpine skier Federica Brignone, double Olympic gold‑medallist from the 2026 Milano‑Cortina Games, said her body will never fully recover from the severe tibia‑fibula fracture she suffered in April 2025. Fifteen months after the accident, she continues to experience constant pain and can only train by cycling, swimming and gym work, but cannot run or bear full weight.

Brignone plans to put skis on in early August and hopes to attend the Italian team’s training camp in Ushuaia in September, yet she warned that a repeat of last season’s difficulties would be unbearable and she may miss the entire 2026‑27 competition calendar. She also ruled out any participation in the 2030 Winter Olympics, stating she will not be an athlete then.
