Reggio Emilia province records 256,000 tourist overnight stays in summer 2025

The Lapam Confartigianato study shows that the province of Reggio Emilia logged nearly 256,000 overnight stays between July and September 2025, representing about 30% of the area’s annual bookings. Foreign visitors accounted for roughly one‑third of all stays, driving a 19.6% rise in international overnight counts, while Italian arrivals grew 2.9%, for an overall 7.9% increase versus 2024.

Mountain municipalities in the Apennines attracted 105,000 stays, with tourists averaging 3.7 nights there compared with 2.1 nights province‑wide. The tourism surge also benefits the local artisan sector: at the end of 2024, 1,745 artisan firms—spanning food production, hospitality, transport and related services—employed 5,295 workers.

Early 2026 data suggest the positive trend may continue, with a modest 0.3% rise in January‑April bookings over the same period in 2025, following a strong 13.6% increase year‑on‑year. “The data confirm an important signal for the whole territory,” said Federica Marcacci, president of the Tourism category of Lapam Confartigianato, urging further promotion, infrastructure and service improvements.
