Italian suspect in Aigio double homicide faces fresh forensic scrutiny

Greek police are investigating a double homicide that occurred on 9 June in Aigio, Achaea. The victims were a 54‑year‑old woman and her 26‑year‑old son, found dead in different rooms of their home. The woman's partner, a 65‑year‑old Italian man, was arrested and ordered held in pre‑trial detention. He continues to deny involvement, claiming the victims killed each other and that he may have been drugged and slept through the attack.

New forensic analysis has uncovered blood traces on several objects and pieces of clothing throughout the house, suggesting the suspect moved around the scene after the murders in an effort to alter it. A kitchen knife was found clean of prints, and DNA testing is underway to confirm the source of the blood. Investigators are also reviewing security‑camera footage and searching for the victim’s missing mobile phone as the case proceeds toward trial.
