Italian tax agency halts August debt notices as towns adopt tax‑debt settlement

The Agenzia delle Entrate‑Riscossione (ADER) announced that, for August 2026, it will suspend the issuance of tax payment notices (cartelle). The pause is an administrative decision intended to avoid delivering notices during the summer holiday period; it does not erase or forgive the underlying debts, which remain payable once notifications resume.

Separately, the municipality of Terlizzi approved participation in ADER’s voluntary tax‑debt settlement scheme. From 15 October to 15 December 2026, eligible debtors can submit an electronic declaration to pay only the principal amount, with all interest, fines and ancillary charges waived. Payments may be made in full by 31 March 2027 or in up to 54 bi‑monthly installments, with the total amount confirmed by ADER by 28 February 2027. The measures aim to lessen the financial burden on families, businesses and professionals facing tax liabilities.
