Italian towns adopt tax‑debt ‘Rottamazione Quinques’ scheme

On 31 July the municipal council of Pollena Trocchia approved joining the national “Rottamazione Quinques” programme. The measure allows residents to regularise municipal tax debts (including ICI, IMU, TARI) incurred between 1 January 2000 and 31 December 2023 with significant discounts, waiving penalties, interests and collection fees. Mayor Carlo Esposito explained that debtors will only have to pay the capital amount and procedural costs, while all sanctions and fees are cancelled. The process will be managed online by the Agenzia delle Entrate‑Riscossione, with detailed application instructions to be posted on its website by 15 October.

The council of Villasimius also voted unanimously on the same day to adopt the scheme. Mayor Gianluca Dessì said the municipality aims to recover more than €6.7 million in unpaid local taxes and €676 000 in traffic‑fine penalties. Participants will be able to settle the amount owed without additional charges, provided they forgo any appeals. Council members welcomed the initiative, citing benefits for both the public‑service treasury and taxpayers.
