Italian towns Amandola and Arquata del Tronto approved multi‑million euro post‑quake reconstruction projects

The Marche regional conference gave the green light to two reconstruction interventions in the mountain areas of Amandola and Arquata del Tronto, both hit by the 2016‑2017 earthquake.

Amandola will receive €1.5 million under commissarial ordinance 137 to restore public squares, streets and sub‑services in six frazioni (Rustici, Taccarelli, San Cristoforo, Garulla Inferiore, Garulla Superiore and Turano). Works include resurfacing pavements, improving rain‑water drainage, restoring historic fountains, upgrading lighting and securing a slope in Garulla Inferiore. Guido Castelli, the extraordinary commissioner, said the project “unites reconstruction and urban regeneration, restoring quality, safety and new gathering spaces”. Mayor Adolfo Marinangeli highlighted the aim to “make the high‑land villages livable again”.

In Arquata del Tronto, an additional €4.13 million brings the total investment for the Piedilama area to about €9.6 million. The funding covers new roads, parking, water, sewage, electricity, gas, telecommunications and public lighting, creating the basic infrastructure needed for rebuilding homes and encouraging residents to return.
