Italian towns and agencies begin property sales to revitalize abandoned buildings

The municipality of Bitonto has launched the "Case a un euro Bitonto" programme, issuing a public notice that allows owners of abandoned historic‑centre buildings to transfer their properties to the city for a symbolic price of one euro. Applications are accepted until 30 July 2027. The initiative aims to recover unused or deteriorated structures, improve public safety and attract new residents, investment and economic activity to the old town.

The Consorzio di bonifica Piave announced a public auction scheduled for 27 August 2026 for a property located at Via Riccati 7 in the city of Treviso. Interested parties must submit sealed offers by 26 August 2026. The sale follows a resolution of the consortium’s assembly to dispose of its real‑estate assets.

Both actions reflect local efforts in Italy to address abandoned or underused real‑estate assets by transferring ownership to public bodies or private buyers, with the goal of revitalising urban areas.
