Italian towns approve gender‑violence action plan and elderly‑care support

The municipal council of Loreto unanimously approved an agenda promoted by councilor Daniela Romanini to combat gender‑based violence after the killing of Luigia “Gina” Fortunato. The plan includes public information campaigns, the installation of a red‑bench symbol, school‑based educational activities, participation in the national “Posto Occupato” project and strengthening the local Family Centre. Mayor Moreno Pieroni emphasized that prevention and cultural change are essential to protect women.

In Nereto, the council voted in favour of a motion presented by Mayor Daniele Laurenzi to safeguard the Rosina Rozzi nursing home and the jobs of ASP 1 Teramo employees. The proposal received majority support, with two opposition councillors voting against it. The measure aims to preserve the facility’s role in elderly care for the Val Vibrata area and to protect local employment.

Both decisions reflect Italian local governments’ efforts to address social welfare issues in their communities.
