Italian Towns Celebrate Santa Maria Maddalena Patronal Festivals

In Campo Ligure, a week‑long program runs from July 20 to July 27, featuring daily religious services such as a Triduo, solemn masses, the Calata of the statue, and a final Pontifical Mass attended by Bishop emeritus Mario Oliveri. Civil events include concerts, a Luna Park, workshops for children, a market fair, and performances by the town band and local musical groups.

On the island of La Maddalena, the central celebration occurs on July 22 with a solemn mass presided over by Bishop Roberto Fornaciari, followed by a procession of the saint's statue to the harbor, a blessing of boats, and a sea procession aboard the motor vessel “Riviera di Gallura.” The event concludes with a fireworks display after a delegation from Ajaccio, France, joins the festivities.
