Italian towns clash over sports centre management and funding
In Roselle, Grosseto province, the municipal administration refuted opposition claims about a guarantee (fideiussione) linked to a sports centre project. The council said the addendum was never signed, the procedure was halted before completion, and a report was filed with the financial police to investigate a possible fraud. The municipality also noted that the provincial authority of Grosseto filed its own complaint and submitted a new draft guarantee.
In Guspini, Sardinia, the centre‑left council group submitted an urgent parliamentary question to the mayor and sport assessor, demanding clarification on the status of the Renzo Laconi sports field. Councilors argued that the municipality already holds the necessary authorisations, yet the field remains closed pending a formal inspection after recent synthetic turf installation. Sport assessor Giorgia Massa said the stadium’s management issues are complex and that a final approval has not yet been granted.
