Italian towns collect signatures for media funding referendum and local health services

In San Salvo Marina and Vasto Marina, organizers of the Schierarsi campaign gathered 160 signatures to support a referendum calling for the abolition of public funding for media outlets. The effort is part of a broader national "Firma Day" scheduled for July 11‑12, when similar signature collections will take place across Italian provincial capitals.

Meanwhile, in the municipalities of Casalgrande and Salvaterra, more than 1,000 signatures were collected to back the maintenance of general‑practice medical services. Mayor Giuseppe Daviddi thanked citizens and local political forces, emphasizing the community’s desire to keep nearby primary‑care health provisions.

Both initiatives illustrate a wave of grassroots civic activism in Italy, with citizens mobilising to influence policy on media financing and local health provision.
