Italian towns contest railway station closures and safety issues

In Guidonia Montecelio, residents have formed a citizen committee led by former Five Star Movement candidate Giuseppe Siragusa to oppose the closure of the old Guidonia Centro railway station and the introduction of paid parking at the new Collefiorito station. The committee plans legal action to protect local interests.

Meanwhile, in Giulianova, commuters, local businesses and residents are voicing concerns about the station’s urban decor, perceived safety and the management of surrounding spaces. They are calling for improved cleanliness, better upkeep and stronger security presence to enhance the station’s role as a key gateway for the city and the wider province of Teramo.
