Italian towns demand urgent safety meetings after plant fire and urban decay

A new fire broke out at the Adriatica Bitumi plant in Colli del Tronto, Italy, around noon. Authorities suspect an electrical fault caused the blaze, which was already extinguished when firefighters arrived. Mayor Luca Morganti and regional councilor Andrea Cardilli have called for an urgent meeting with the Prefecture of Ascoli Piceno, local municipalities, Arpam and Ast to review safety measures, noting that the site suffered a major fire in August 2025. Morganti warned, “We cannot simply note a second episode within a year… I will ask the Prefecture for an urgent meeting…”, while Cardilli said he will push for rapid answers and a structural solution.

In Brescia, Gianpaolo Natali, president of Patto per il Nord Brescia, presented a dossier of complaints from residents and merchants about severe urban degradation on Via Zara, Via Corsica and surrounding streets. Reports cite public drunkenness, homelessness, fights, thefts and alleged drug‑dealing, causing businesses to close early and suffer financial losses. Natali demanded the prefect, questore and mayor convene a dedicated safety table and announced readiness to file a legal exposé, stating, “We are ready to promote an exposé in the prosecutor’s office and a legal action…”.
