Italian towns experience water supply disruptions amid pump failures and urgent pipe repairs

The municipality of Taurianova in Calabria reported that electrical faults damaged the power supply to its water‑pumping system, halting service across the town. Officials said restoring electricity does not instantly resume flow; the network must be refilled and pressures normalized, and air pockets may further delay delivery. The administration is monitoring repairs and collecting citizen reports to address the outage.

In Viterbo, Lazio, the water company Talete began emergency works on the main supply conduit after detecting a leak. The operation, which started at 08:00 and was expected to finish around 20:00, could cause temporary pressure drops, service suspensions and water cloudiness in several neighborhoods, including Pilastro, Villanova and others. Once flow resumes, gradual pipe filling may introduce air and brief turbidity, which are expected to clear quickly.
