Italian towns Galliate and Sasso di Castalda receive over €1.4 million for school energy upgrades

The municipality of Galliate in Piedmont will use a €293,000 grant approved by the GSE under the Conto Termico 3.0 to carry out thermal insulation of the middle school's roof and to finally connect a photovoltaic system installed in 2023. Vice‑mayor and public works assessor Emanuele Zuin said the funding will improve energy efficiency and resolve fire‑safety procedural issues that had delayed the solar panels.

In the southern region of Basilicata, the town of Sasso di Castalda secured a €1,142,860 incentive from the same programme to retrofit its school into a near‑zero‑energy building, cutting the school's energy demand and increasing renewable use. Mayor Rocchino Nardo and public works assessor Mariangela Laurino highlighted the project as a major step for the community and praised the timely, technically compliant application.

Both projects are part of Italy’s broader effort to modernise public buildings and meet climate targets through the GSE’s Conto Termico scheme.
