Italian towns honor centenarian residents

In Serrara Fontana, Sicily, the community celebrated the 100th birthday of Maria Schiano. The mayor Irene Iacono, assessor Tony Galano and councilor Michela Pettorino visited the newly‑centenarian, presented a symbolic gift on behalf of the municipality and residents, and highlighted her life as a living memory of the town.

In Ruinas, Sardinia, the whole town marked the centenary of Mariangela Setzu. Mayor Gianni Tatti and the local administration awarded her a commemorative plaque. The celebration recalled her history from a humble upbringing, her work in Milan, her long partnership with Silvio Meloni, and her family life, emphasizing her role as a beloved figure in the community.
