Italian towns honor centenarians with mayoral plaques

The municipality of Pineto in the Abruzzo region marked the 100th birthday of resident Lidia Giannangelo. On 30 July, Mayor Alberto Dell’Orletta visited her home after a hospital stay and presented a commemorative plaque on behalf of the community.

In the Emilia‑Romagna province of Ferrara, local officials celebrated Iole Ziosi, who also turned 100. Social‑health councillor Cristina Coletti handed her a personalized plaque and a letter of congratulations signed by Mayor Alan Fabbri during a family lunch at a local restaurant. Both ceremonies highlighted the towns' tradition of publicly recognizing elders who embody a century of local history.
