Italian towns invest €3.99 million to expand and modernise municipal nurseries

The municipality of Monfalcone (Italy) will receive a €2.5 million grant from the national ministry to add at least 14 new places to the early‑children’s section of the Via Roma school. The funding also covers energy‑efficiency upgrades, seismic retrofitting and a restructuring of internal spaces. Work is scheduled to begin in the coming months.

In Civitanova Marche, a €1.49 million renovation – financed with €910 000 from the PNRR and €490 000 from other public funds – has created ten additional spots in the “Il Grillo Parlante” nursery, bringing total capacity to 35 children. The project replaced asbestos, reinforced the structure, installed a new elevator and under‑floor heating, upgraded windows and the heating system, and refreshed the garden and external façade, improving safety, accessibility and energy performance.

Both projects are part of Italy’s broader push to modernise municipal early‑education facilities, increase capacity for families and meet sustainability standards.
