Italian towns launch food donation drives for animal shelter and families in need

In Ferrara, local businesses and the municipal administration donated a ton of dog food to the city shelter, aiming to ensure continuous care for the animals. The effort, coordinated by the vice‑mayor for animal welfare and companies such as F Medical, Plenio and Lovely Dentist, follows similar semestral donations made last year.

In Tradate, the Casa della Città Solidale urged residents to bring surplus fruits and vegetables to the Market Solidale, where the produce will be distributed to families facing economic hardship. The campaign targets both hobby gardeners and larger orchard owners, seeking to reduce food waste while supporting the community.

Both initiatives illustrate growing local collaboration between public authorities, businesses and volunteers to combat waste and provide essential resources to vulnerable groups.
