Italian towns launch free inclusive water‑sport programmes for youth and families

In the municipality of Codigoro, a new edition of an inclusive sailing course will start in September, offering about ten children from socially vulnerable backgrounds a week of free training at the Circolo Nautico Volano’s school. The project is organized by the town, the sailing club and the Il Mantello di Pomposa association, with transport provided by volunteers and an emphasis on environmental education. Mayor Sabina Alice Zanardi highlighted the educational value of sport for breaking barriers.

From 6 to 10 July, the Lido di Genova hosted the third edition of “Sport per Tutti”, a five‑day series of free aquatic activities – windsurf, SUP, swimming, water‑polo, artistic swimming, apnea and snorkeling – open to participants of all abilities. The programme featured a “Special Day” with a mixed‑ability relay and appearances by prominent Italian swimmers, and local officials praised it as a model of inclusive sport, awarding medals to all participants.
