Italian towns Monza and Verbania grapple with waste buildup and neglected roads

In Monza, residents have raised alarms over abandoned waste piles and strong odors during the summer heat. Citizens are demanding increased street‑cleaning, clearer waste‑tariff rules, installation of cameras in problem areas and stricter enforcement against illegal dumping.

In Verbania, the Forza Italia local group criticised the municipal administration for failing to maintain streets and tourist pathways on the outskirts of the city. Representatives cited overgrown vegetation, rusted infrastructure and a lack of investment despite promises to develop the area, calling for concrete actions to restore the town’s attractiveness for residents and visitors.
