Italian towns of Casarano and Sassari host cultural openings

In Casarano, the municipality and the association Fiori di Stelle APS inaugurated the outdoor crochet exhibition “Trame d’Identità” on 31 July in Piazza San Domenico. The display, created over months of collective work, interprets local religious sites, productive traditions and iconic symbols, with live music by Frank Bramato accompanying the event.

In Sassari, the pedestrian square on Via Torre Tonda was opened after a four‑month renovation costing about €300,000, funded by a regional programme of €1.06 million. Mayor Giuseppe Mascia highlighted the new space’s role in linking the historic and nineteenth‑century parts of the city, while local shop owners expressed relief after prolonged construction disruptions. Further pedestrian squares are planned for gradual implementation.
