Milan rolls out summer aid for seniors as Rho and Montecreto expand seasonal support
The City of Milan has relaunched its "Milano Aiuta Estate" program to support elderly and vulnerable residents during the July‑August heat wave. A dedicated phone line (02 02 02) and an online booking system let citizens request home‑care visits, meal deliveries, personal‑hygiene help, regular monitoring calls and participation in cool‑space activities across 116 public locations.
Rho’s municipality began its "Estate Sicura" service on 22 June, operating until 13 September 2026. Through a single phone number (02 93332 777) residents over 65 or with reduced mobility can obtain meals, transport for medical appointments, home assistance and grocery deliveries, backed by a network of local volunteers.
In Montecreto, the regional health authority restored an auto‑medical service for the Alpine area, but only for weekends from 20 June to 13 September 2026 and limited to daylight hours. Officials stress the seasonal restriction leaves weekday and nighttime coverage lacking, prompting criticism from local representatives.
