Italian towns Verbania and Viterbo protest waste management failures

In Verbania, members of the Forza Italia party accused the municipal administration of mishandling the Tariffa Unica Puntuale waste‑collection project. They said the scheme has cost the city €180,000 in co‑financing, left hundreds of plastic bins unwashed and stored, and contributed to a rising waste tax (TARI) while providing no effective service.

In Viterbo, local business owners and residents described the Sacrario area as a “no‑man’s land” plagued by discarded syringes, broken glass, overflowing trash and a lack of street lighting. They complained that municipal authorities have failed to address the degradation despite repeated reports, leaving the neighbourhood unsafe and harming commerce.
