Italian trio Kimera performs at Ohrid Summer Festival

The Italian chamber ensemble Kimera, composed of pianist Marta Chereta, violinist Stefano Rakani and cellist Giorgio Lucini, gave a concert on the opening night of the 66th Ohrid Summer Festival. The performance took place in the acoustically renowned St. Sofia church in Ohrid, beginning at 21:00, and featured works by Beethoven, Martin and Shostakovich.

Formed under the mentorship of Patrick Jued at the Haute école de musique de Berne, the trio earned master’s degrees in chamber music in 2023 and has studied with the Cremona quartet and the A. Boito Conservatory in Parma. Their accolades include the 2022 Best Italian Ensemble prize at the Filip Nikozić competition, subsequent awards for contemporary performance, and recent first‑place wins in Busan (South Korea) and at the Alberto Buri competition. Kimera has performed in venues across Europe and the United States and is an official member of the European Academy of Chamber Music. The ensemble’s name references Greek mythology and a Schumann piece, and they continue to collaborate with composers such as Fabio Vacci.
