Caorle U20 Athletics: Veneto medals and relay disqualification
The Italian Under‑20 Athletics Championships were held in Caorle on 4‑5 July 2026, featuring more than 1 200 competitors. Veneto athletes secured a strong haul with one gold, four silver and three bronze medals on the second day, highlighted by Elisa Valensin's 200 m win and Alessia Miniutti's bronze in the 800 m.
Young sprinter Kelly Doualla (Cus Pro Patria Milano) won the men’s 100 m in 11.44 seconds, while fellow junior Francesco Crotti claimed the triple‑jump title with a 16.15 m mark, earning his second gold of the meet. In the 4 × 400 m relays, both the men's and women's teams initially finished first but were later disqualified after officials ruled a baton exchange error. The third‑placed teams were therefore promoted to the podium, with the women's team from Terni winning the race.
The championships also saw standout performances from athletes representing other regions, including a surprise victory by Diego Nappi (bronze in men’s 200 m) and strong showings in field events such as the hammer and javelin. The event served as a key preparation stage for upcoming European junior competitions.
