Italian Universities Introduce New Degree Programs for Teachers and Scientific Communicators

The University of Parma will open a fully online Master in Scientific Communication for the 2026‑2027 academic year. Seventy places are available on a first‑come, first‑served basis, with applications closing on 5 October 2026. The 30‑week programme offers 60 university credits, covering topics such as artificial intelligence, climate change, sustainability, data journalism, fact‑checking and disinformation. It is directed by Prof. Susanna Esposito and supported by the Emilia‑Romagna region and local health institutions.

Separately, the University of Calabria and the University Magna Graecia of Catanzaro have received ANVUR approval for a new inter‑university degree in Primary Education Sciences (Scienze della formazione primaria). The course will start in the 2026/27 academic year, aiming to train future teachers through a mix of theoretical study and school‑based internships. It targets roughly 300 existing teacher‑training spots plus an additional 100 places for Calabrian students, with the goal of reducing regional educational disparities and strengthening local university‑school links.
