Italian universities launch environmental awareness initiatives

Universities in Italy are organizing several environmental awareness initiatives. On October 3, Marche universities, including the Politecnica delle Marche, Camerino, Macerata, and Urbino Carlo Bo, will hold the ‘Action for Climate 2026’ excursion on Monte Conero. Organized in collaboration with the Network of Universities for Sustainable Development (RUS) and the Italian Alpine Club (CAI), the 7.7-kilometer hike aims to educate the academic community and citizens on climate change effects, specifically regarding marine and coastal ecosystems and the vulnerability of the Conero Park.

Separately, on October 7, the University of Parma will participate in the ‘Clean up the world’ campaign promoted by Legambiente. The ‘Sustainable University’ working group has organized a cleaning event at the Science and Technology Campus. This initiative, which involves various local associations and the RUS, focuses on waste reduction and recycling to promote environmental sustainability within the university community.
