Environmental awareness and educational excursions in Italy

Overview

Environmental and educational activities in Italy have focused on mountain excursions and climate awareness. In the Abruzzo and Emilia-Romagna regions, initiatives included hiking trips to Monte Meta and the ‘Sentiero dell’Atmosfera’ project, which utilized the Monte Cimone climate and meteorological observatory to educate participants.

Building on these themes, Italian universities have launched specific environmental awareness programs. These include the ‘Action for Climate 2026’ excursion on Monte Conero to study coastal ecosystem vulnerability, as well as waste reduction and recycling campaigns such as the ‘Clean up the world’ initiative at the University of Parma.
