Italian universities roll out new 2026‑27 programmes to retain students

On 15 July 2026, the University of Calabria held a press conference to present its 2026‑27 master and high‑level training courses aimed at recent graduates, public and private employees, and freelancers. The school highlighted its 17‑year history of serving more than a thousand participants from Calabria and neighboring regions.

The same day, the University of Sardinia announced an expansion of its academic offer for 2026‑27, adding five new degree programmes—four master's and one bachelor’s—bringing the total to 103 courses and enrolling over 27,000 students. New fields include sustainable development law, managerial engineering, environmental and forensic toxicology, and a fully online bachelor's in business administration. The university also increased medical seats and expanded international mobility, citing a strategy to counter youth out‑migration from the island.

Both institutions stress aligning curricula with labour‑market needs and strengthening regional campuses to curb demographic decline and student flight.
