Italian volunteer rescue groups add new ambulances in Calolzio and Rignano

In Calolzio, the local volunteer rescue association inaugurated four new ambulances after signing a new agreement with the regional emergency agency Areu. The pact, effective from the start of the year, doubled the service commitment, allowing continuous 24‑hour coverage and the deployment of a second ambulance during daytime hours. The ceremony was led by longtime volunteer Piera Losa, who turned 80, and highlighted the association’s nearly 300 volunteers and recent staff expansion.

In Rignano sull’Arno, the Italian Red Cross opened a newly donated ambulance and a specially equipped social‑transport vehicle. The ambulance was provided by Beta Motor, while the social vehicle received a LUCAS resuscitation device thanks to contributions from the Fondazione CR Firenze and the Panathlon Club. Local officials, including Mayor Giacomo Certosi and the newly elected Red Cross president Clarissa Olmi, praised the community’s generosity and the renewed strength of the organisation.
