Italian Wildfires Prompt Emergency Response in Abruzzo and Sardinia

In the province of L'Aquila, wildfires have spread across several municipalities, reaching the frazione of Roio in Lucoli. Mayor Pierluigi Biondi, also president of ANCI Abruzzo, said the fires are being closely monitored and coordinated with the fire brigade, civil protection and local volunteers to protect people and the environment.

In Sardinia, residents along State Road 125 near San Gregorio warned that essential safety infrastructure is lacking after a recent blaze. Volunteer Alberto Paretta urged authorities to improve hydrant networks, evacuation routes, communication coverage and preventive land management, emphasizing shared responsibility for fire prevention.
