Italian youth athletes break regional records and earn World U20 spots

At the Giochi della Gioventù in Rome, 13‑year‑old Giorgia Gatti of Nettuno set a new Lazio under‑14 high‑jump record with a clearance of 1.62 m, surpassing the previous mark by one centimetre. The event also saw a double gold for the Studentesca Rieti team and solid performances from the region’s male school athletes.

In Rubiera, Sofia Ferrari ran a provincial junior record of 9:23.98 for 3000 m, meeting the qualification standard for the World U20 Championships scheduled in the United States in early August. Her performance was the fastest junior time in Italy since 2019 and secured her a place at the global competition.
