Italy accelerates stadium projects for Euro 2032, aiding Milan and Inter

Italy has issued Decree‑Law No. 108 on 26 June 2026 to hasten the construction and renovation of stadiums ahead of Euro 2032. The law introduces a 90‑day fast‑track approval process, extends the accelerated procedures to municipalities as well as private entities, and strengthens the powers of the extraordinary commissioner, Massimo Sessa, by allowing delegation to mayors and regional presidents. A magistrate is added to the commissioner’s team to oversee legal challenges and prevent court delays.

The measures are aimed at meeting UEFA’s non‑extendable deadline of March 2027 for the start of infrastructure works. They are expected to facilitate the redevelopment of the San Siro area and allow Milan and Inter to submit their technical and economic feasibility studies by the end of 2026, reducing bureaucratic obstacles that have historically slowed stadium projects in Italy.
