In Sicily, President Renato Schifani announced the allocation of 60 million euros in FSC resources to support the construction of a modern stadium in Palermo to bolster its hosting competitiveness. In Naples, officials noted a competitive advantage due to an existing stadium and an approved renovation project for the Maradona stadium. This project, which could reach a 66,000-seat capacity, is expected to be completed by 2030. The FIGC is expected to select five candidate projects by September 30 for submission to UEFA, with a final decision anticipated around October 10.

Regarding AS Roma, Tony D’Amico’s appointment as sporting director was finalized in June 2026. His three-year contract, effective 1 July, follows a settlement with Atalanta. D’Amico is tasked with contract renewals and managing transfer targets. Financially, Roma faced a €2 million fine and a €4 million penalty from UEFA for exceeding the 70% squad-cost threshold.
