Italy advances transport infrastructure with upgrades to Gorizia intermodal hub and Bari's San Cataldo port

The regional councilors visited the Gorizia SDAG intermodal terminal, where plans were outlined to modernise the P3 customs circuit, expand the truck‑parking areas and upgrade the railway terminal. Administrator Fabrizio Renato Russo announced investments to boost the cold‑storage hub and improve rail connectivity, aiming to increase traffic from the ports of Trieste and Monfalcone and strengthen links with Eastern Europe.

In Bari, the San Cataldo pier expansion was inaugurated with a €39 million investment, partly funded by PNRR and the national government. Transport Minister Matteo Salvini highlighted the project's role in enhancing port safety, logistics, fishing, tourism and maritime defence, and noted the new facilities will support a future marina for roughly 200 boats.

Both projects are part of broader Italian efforts to improve transport and logistics infrastructure, targeting increased economic activity and regional connectivity.
