Italy air traffic controllers strike scheduled for September 30

Air traffic controllers in Italy are scheduled to hold a national strike on Wednesday, September 30, which is expected to cause flight delays and cancellations across the country. The protest, involving employees of ENAV, the company responsible for managing civil air traffic, is set to last four hours between 13:00 and 17:00 local time.

The industrial action may affect operations at all 33 airports served by ENAV, including major hubs such as Rome, Milan, Naples, Venice, Bologna, and Bari. While the strike is concentrated in the afternoon, disruptions may ripple through flight schedules for the remainder of the day.

Under Italian aviation legislation, certain time slots are protected to ensure essential services. Flights scheduled between 07:00 and 10:00, and between 18:00 and 21:00, are guaranteed. Additionally, certain connections to Italian islands, emergency flights, humanitarian missions, and state flights are also protected. Passengers are advised to check their flight status directly with their airline before heading to the airport.
