Italy allocates 2026 university funding via Ministry decree
The Italian Ministry of University and Research has released the decree for the 2026 Ordinary Financing Fund (FFO), outlining the distribution of resources for state universities. The total fund is approximately 9.415 billion euros, representing a 25.6 million euro increase from 2025.
In Tuscany, the Scuola IMT Alti Studi in Lucca will receive 13.3 million euros, a 5% increase compared to 2025. The institute plans to use its research expertise for community projects, such as the “Mura intelligenti” initiative to create a free public Wi-Fi network along the city's Renaissance walls.
In the Marche region, the four state universities will receive a combined total of nearly 233 million euros, a 2% increase from the previous year. While the Università Politecnica delle Marche will see a 5% rise, the University of Urbino (Carlo Bo) is slated to receive 58.4 million euros, a slight decrease of approximately 0.7% compared to 2025.
