Italy Allocates €3 Million to Support Fishing and Aquaculture After Climate Damage
The Italian Council of Ministers approved a €3 million refinancing of the National Solidarity Fund for fishing and aquaculture for 2026. The funding aims to assist companies in the sector that suffered damage to production and facilities from extreme weather and marine events between 1 January 2024 and 31 December 2026, helping to maintain operations, employment and coastal food security.
Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests Francesco Lollobrigida said the measure confirms the government's support for a strategic economic and social asset, providing additional resources to restore damages and strengthen the sector’s response capacity to climate‑related risks.
