Italy allocates €770 million for agricultural rooftop solar
Italy has distributed €770.4 million in grants through the Agrisolare scheme to support 7,409 projects. These projects aim to install approximately 505 MW of solar capacity on the roofs of agricultural, livestock, and agro-industrial buildings.
The funding, managed by the Gestore dei Servizi Energetici (GSE) under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), saw massive demand. The program received 16,919 applications seeking roughly €1.74 billion, more than double the available budget. Consequently, 1,863 eligible applications remained unfunded due to budget exhaustion, and 7,610 applications were deemed ineligible.
Regional distribution shows Lombardy received the largest share, with €145.2 million awarded to 884 projects. Other significant recipients include Veneto, Emilia-Romagna, and Piedmont. Agriculture Minister Francesco Lollobrigida previously indicated that the government hoped to secure additional resources to assist the remaining applicants.
