Italy allocates €8.5 million to redevelop La Balzana former camorra site

The Italian inter‑ministerial committee (CIPESS) has approved an additional €8.5 million for Agrorinasce to continue the redevelopment of La Balzana, a former camorra‑confiscated agricultural complex in Santa Maria La Fossa, province of Caserta, Campania. The funding will support the conversion of the site into a Campania agro‑food park, including production facilities, training and research centres, and social housing for young families.

Regional councilor Vincenzo Santangelo of Fratelli d’Italia highlighted the project as a symbolic victory over organised crime, noting that the €8.5 million was already earmarked by the government in February and that the latest allocation completes the formal approval process. He praised Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s government for delivering concrete resources. The redevelopment follows an earlier €15 million investment in 2019 and the completion of infrastructure works amounting to €9.1 million, with further phases slated for completion by June 2026.
