Italy allocates disaster relief funds for families and businesses

Bvr Banca Veneto Centrale has set aside €30 million to support households, sole traders and companies damaged by recent extreme weather events across 273 municipalities in the Veneto and nearby provinces. The bank will offer loans of up to €150 000 for enterprises and €50 000 for families or individual businesses, fee‑free for up to 60 months, with applications accepted from July 2026 to 31 January 2027.

Separately, Italy's Five Star Movement (M5S) is providing €300 000 in direct assistance to families and firms affected by the Niscemi landslide. The funds – €200 000 for households and €100 000 for economic activities – come from salary cuts of party deputies and are available to applicants residing in the red‑zone area, with claims to be submitted by 3 August. The aid can be used for housing repairs, essential goods, utilities and the re‑establishment of business operations.
