Italy allocates funds for automotive, R&D, and agricultural innovation

Italy is deploying various regional and national funds to support industrial innovation, sustainability, and research and development.

The Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy has allocated 300 million euros to the automotive supply chain through development contracts. This initiative, signed by Minister Adolfo Urso, aims to facilitate the green transition and the development of advanced technologies for sustainable, autonomous, and connected mobility. A significant portion of these funds is reserved for SMEs, with 40% directed toward projects in Southern Italy.

In the research sector, the Sustainable Growth Fund is providing over 500 million euros for industrial research and experimental development. New incentives for these projects are scheduled to become active in October 2026, focusing on strategic areas such as digital technology, smart industry, and mobility.

Regional initiatives are also active. Calabria has launched a 3-million-euro call for innovative agricultural and forestry projects to bridge the gap between research and production. In Tuscany, the completion of PNRR-funded projects has seen over 13 million euros distributed to 302 businesses for modernizing olive mills and agricultural machinery. Additionally, the Tuscany Region is providing 1 million euros to Florence to upgrade municipal transport, including school buses, to low-emission vehicles to meet environmental standards.
